VDH Manufacturing

We’re proud to have partnered with Marketing Metal to develop an awesome new image that better illustrates our mission, and continuous commitment to quality.
Eric van der Heide
President of VDH Manufacturing

When VDH Manufacturing launched their new venture into high-precision Swiss machining, it wasn't just to start a business; it was to fill a critical gap in the aerospace and medical industries.

After more than a decade of machining and shop management experience, Eric van der Heide knew he could manufacture the small, long, thin, high quantity parts faster and at a higher level of quality and precision than he was seeing from vendors. Proving that theory after a successful first few years in business, but struggling to find a balance between feast and famine, Eric was ready to ditch his starter website and invest a brand and marketing that could attract more of the aerospace and robotics manufacturers he enjoyed working with the most.

Not only that, but he has a big vision to build a cutting-edge, innovative company known for delivering high-quality products, fast to top industry players and growing a team of experts who love their jobs. With top of the line tech like Proshop ERP and Espirit CAM and an AS9100 quality certification in the works, VDH needed their brand to showcase that level of commitment to excellence.

Building a Radical Brand for VDH Manufacturing

Our team meticulously crafted a visually compelling brand to communicate the specialized, high-caliber work that defines the company, positioning Eric as the passionate Swiss machining leader that he is in aerospace, medical devices, and communications. The brand voice and narrative clearly articulates the type of customers VDH serves and shows a deep understanding of their needs, providing clear reasons why they make a great partner for solving complex manufacturing challenges.

This message is carried throughout the new website, which has much more depth and detail than the one they started with, making it more visible to search engines. Using conversational language and compelling calls to action, we take visitors on a logical journey to answer their questions and make them want to know more.

By showcasing examples of the tiny, difficult parts that VDH produces and featuring a list of happy customers and industry partners, we provide substantial proof of the caliper of work they do and values they live by. Professional photography of Eric at work paired with carefully selected stock images elevated the brand's visual narrative.

Consistency in brand messaging across platforms is imperative, so we upgraded the company’s social media pages with new imagery, headlines, and descriptions to match. The color scheme of bright blue and light grey, set against a dark background, was harmonized across the website and social media, creating a cohesive and striking visual brand.

We also designed fun stickers and t-shirts so that VDH can extend brand recognition and customer appreciation. To leave a lasting impression on prospects, we also created professional branded brochures and business cards.

Developing a Stupid Simple Marketing Machine

Our strategy for boosting VDH’s market presence included leveraging Eric’s engagement on social media by sharing his knowledge along with photos and videos of his work. By consistently and authentically showing up, Eric will attract a broader audience, fostering trust and support for VDH. We encouraged regular updates on the company’s LinkedIn page to complement Eric’s personal posts, effectively filling the sales pipeline over time.

Determined to empower our clients, we showed the VDH team how to quickly develop blog content and repurpose it into email blasts and social media posts, and encouraged them to use scheduling tools to make sure their content goes out consistently during high traffic times. We also helped brainstorm content ideas that highlight common industry design problems and solutions, and how to ease the procurement process for buyers and project managers.

We recommended claiming and buying industry-focused and generic directory listings to enhance search engine optimization and make a name for themselves in the aerospace and defense sectors, encouraging them to engage with industry media to amplify their authority and drive traffic to the website.

I’m on a mission to help job shops crush their marketing by building them a Radical brand that’s authentic to who they are and magnetic to those they want to attract.

My process empowers them to market their businesses simply and effectively without spending a fortune or wasting countless hours on social media.

Sharp, Shiny & Magnetic is how I operate. I believe that whatever energy you put out into the world, it has a ripple effect that consumes you and everyone around you, so I’m committed to making it the good kind.

I use my shiny disposition and sharp wit to help you source and shape your METAL–the stuff that makes your shop magnetic to the kinds of humans you want to have around you. I ask hard questions and go deep with my customers so that I can not only build them a Radical brand but help them OWN it and recognize their own Radicalness.
